If there is an update waiting to e installed and y'all want to restart or shut down without installing the update, on your Desktop, Press Alt + F4 to open the old Close Down box, which volition give you the option of re-starting without installing the update . . .

I was asked terminal night when Windows could update and I said after 9:30PM last night. My PC is prepare to wake itself upwards to do that and not require my input, and it was only asleep terminal dark. Despite all that it did not install. This morning information technology asked again when information technology could update and I said after xi:00 tonight. It's simply 9:30 PM and I am busy. It is not working properly and I need to reboot, I don't take time to update. WHEN IS MICROSOFT GOING TO Empathise THAT WINDOWS ten IS MEANT TO Work FOR ME, NOT ME FOR It???? If you're going to give later on hours options, make them work!!!! Windows is merely getting toooooo hard to piece of work with.

At that place IS NO Option to restart OR shut down without updating the system!!!!!!!!!!!
All-time solution is to hard reset the computer by holding the power push button. Thanks Microsoft for potentially destroying my hardware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I accept the same issue... Why Microsoft forces updates on users is beyond me.
Correct now, I need to restart my automobile to attempt to get printer to connect. I have to leave for work in 5 minutes. The only restart option is to Update and Restart, which for all I know, will have i ane/2 hours.
Oh, and I love to progress displayed during updates... Information technology'll go through the whole thing go to 100%, and just stay there for however long.

My Gateway DX4860 is non compatible with the pending updates.
1607 OS build 14393.1944 is the last successful update on this box. (i7-2600)
I institute this out after months of failed updates attempts that abended at different points in
event manager. (75%, 82%, etc.) (and then PITA as it was, I thought they'd somewhen correct the bugs)
I tried numerous ways to avoid the update attempts.
...each of which consumed hours and beat my h/west.
Just never found a solution. Everytime it would take lots of fourth dimension to try, and then I'd have to hard reset
considering it hung, and and so expect more time as it 'Restored the previous Bone version'
Until that day, it presented popular-upwards saying security fixes were pending, (not updates)
so I made a restore indicate, and a fresh usb recover drive and pressed ok to continue.
This time it was left in a reboot loop, which would immediately reboot after maxim in was going to
'Restore the previous Os'. I tried using the usb drive, only it only got me to a uncomplicated page with a
scattering if buttons, simply the button for restoring to a previous betoken said it could not and I did not
want to reload the OS and wipe out all of my files, since I was mid taxation season and the final backup was a couple weeks ago. I was able to accesss the command prompt with one of the buttons.
That allowed me to verify the drive was okay, and data yet at that place.
I took it to a local vendor, Microcenter, hoping they had more avant-garde tools,
Only after a couple days they said they could get no farther than I had.
So had had them put in a new drive and keep the original drive equally a 2ndary
so I could think files and patch it from there.
(The Windows 7 -> 10 upgrade was also not past choice....I walked away for a bit and it just did it)
$200 later, I finally got the box to a workable state again, BUT still cannot avoid update attempts.
- I've unchecked the Cull how updates are installed boxes under Settings->Advanced options
- I accept had to Stop and Disable the Windows Update service with every login at present.
I had been able to work and shutdown after doing that.....UNTIL This evening !!!
The simply options under Outset->Power are: Sleep, Update and shutdown or Update and restart
The just options nether RMB Start->Shut down or sign out-> are:
Sign out, Sleep, Update and shutdown or Update and restart
Doing Alt+F4 closes apps, and once signed out will somewhen present the Shutdown Windows API

(Windows Update is acting like a virus that but won't go away)
Please provide a solution.....MY ONLY SOLUTION AT THIS POINT IS TO HARD POWER OFF .
(which runs the risk of corrupting the Bone, fifty-fifty if I manually close all of the apps beginning)

I don't think annihilation will change because of comments here, but...
Consider that now we no longer have a Shutdown pick in Windows 10 when there is an update gear up. The just choice is Update and Restart.
When I'm on a plane getting set to country, I don't want an auto-update to go on me from shutting down.
When I'm in a coffee store, 5 minutes to a meeting, I don't want Windows to tell me it's going to start a long process.
I'yard going to disable auto-updates (if possible anymore) and if Microsoft makes that difficult I'thou going to kickoff setting firewall restrictions against Microsoft update servers. I will update when I have time, non when Microsoft orders me to do and so.
Please - exist reasonable - modify how this works dorsum to the way it e'er worked.

So yeah there'southward no way to restart without updating...
Like **** me sideways Microsoft, I'm marching my ass over to apple, I don't have time to wait an hr for my pc to update when I need to restart information technology now and have it ready in v minutes. This is just plain unethical. After dropping all this money on a pc and windows software, y'all would think yous would at to the lowest degree become the liberty to not have your time get raped past microsoft updates.
